Celebrate National Health Education Week, October 17 – 21

Happy National Health Education Week! The Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) celebrates National Health Education Week (NHEW) every year during the third full week of October. This celebration brings attention to public health issues and promotes consumers’ understanding of the role of health education and health promotion in society. Be a part of the celebration as we focus on partnerships to build community health.

The Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) is an organization that promotes healthy behaviors, healthy communities, and healthy environments through its membership, its network of local chapters, and its numerous partnerships with other organizations. For more than 60 years, SOPHE has served as an independent professional association represented by a diverse membership of nearly 4,000 health education professionals and students throughout the United States and 25 international countries.  SOPHE members work in elementary/secondary schools, universities, voluntary organizations, health care settings, worksites, and local/state/federal government agencies.

LOHF actively works to break down barriers associated with mental health and streamline connections between caregivers, existing structures, and available resources so the Lancaster County community has consistent and confident options for supporting the children who live here. SOPHE and National Health Education Week reinforces the goal to bring awareness to public health issues, locally and nationally.

You can get involved during National Health Education Week, by participating in a series of activities throughout the week that promote building partnerships to create a healthier community. For a full list of activities and more information on SOPHE, please visit www.sophe.org/nhew.cfm.
