Honoring Bill Zee: A Legacy of Advocacy for Youth Mental Wellness

At Touchstone Foundation, we continue to mourn the loss of our dear friend and board member, Bill Zee. His dedication to mental health—especially in supporting the youth of Lancaster County—left a lasting impact that will continue to guide our mission for years to come.

As an attorney and a passionate advocate for trauma-informed care, Bill championed the needs of children and families, working tirelessly to ensure schools, legal systems, and communities understood and addressed the challenges faced by vulnerable youth. Through his leadership with Touchstone Foundation, he co-developed trauma training sessions that equipped educators, school boards, and legal professionals with a deeper understanding of childhood trauma. Most notably, Bill was instrumental in advancing our partnership with the Attachment and Trauma Network (ATN), overseeing the beta testing of a new trauma-informed course that was especially close to his heart.

Bill’s work made a profound difference in shaping policies and practices that prioritized youth mental health and well-being. His vision and tireless advocacy will continue to inspire us as we carry forward the work he cared about most.

In his memory, we are proud to announce the Bill Zee Legacy Scholarship. This scholarship honors Bill’s lifelong commitment to children’s mental health and trauma-informed education. Through Touchstone Foundation’s Mental Health Scholarships Program, the scholarship will support students who share Bill’s passion for trauma-informed care and youth wellness—future professionals, educators, and advocates who will carry on his mission of creating a more compassionate, supportive community for every child.

By investing in the next generation, we ensure Bill’s legacy lives on—transforming grief into a pathway of hope and impact.
