Internship Spotlight

Welcome Hope Davis (They/Them) to the Touchstone Foundation team as our

Communications Assistant 2025 intern!

Hope recently graduated cum laude from Millersville University with a degree in Business Administration, specializing in Marketing and Management.

Tell us something interesting or exciting about yourself?

I am adopted! In addition to being adopted, I also have four adopted siblings. On top of that, I have five stepsiblings, making my family the ultimate blended family. What I find most interesting about my family is that, although I am not biologically related to any of them, the connections we share transcend blood ties. Moreover, there’s so much to explore about the intersectionality between adoption and mental wellness—how fitting!

What inspired you to pursue an internship at Touchstone Foundation, and what excites you most about this opportunity?

Since the day I started as a freshman at Millersville University, I knew I wanted to use my degree to make a positive impact on any community, industry, or organization I became part of. After learning about Touchstone Foundation’s vision, mission, and values, I realized that pursuing an internship here perfectly aligns with my own vision, mission, and values. How full-circle is that?! I am thrilled to work alongside Casey Flores, Touchstone’s Marketing and Communications Manager, to help spread the organization’s message. Unlike messaging designed to gain customers, our focus is on gaining access to mental health care for those in need. Helping others is, without a doubt, the most exciting part of it all.

Can you share a memorable project or experience from your background that showcases your creativity or ability to connect with diverse audiences?

While attending Millersville University, I managed a coffee shop on campus. According to Dr. Wubah, the President of the University, I left a legacy by introducing musical, artistic, and social events to the space. Additionally, I revitalized the café’s Instagram account, creating a distinct brand identity, and we aired our first-ever ad on WIXQ. These initiatives successfully attracted crowds, followers, and customers from all corners of campus, just as intended.

How do you approach storytelling in communications, and why do you think it’s important for organizations like Touchstone Foundation?

Every member of our community has a story, but not everyone has a platform to share it. Organizations like Touchstone Foundation have a responsibility to amplify these stories because their voice has the power to reach far and wide. As part of this community, Touchstone Foundation has its own meaningful story to tell as well.

For me, the key to impactful storytelling is not just about having reach but also about using a strong, authentic voice. That’s why I approach storytelling with transparency—because actions speak louder than words. Clear and honest communication ensures that stories resonate, build trust, and drive meaningful change.

What are some of the skills or tools you bring to this role, and how do you hope to use them to support Touchstone Foundation’s mission of elevating youth mental health?

I believe I have a natural ability to connect with people easily. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment wherever I am. It’s not that someone has to share everything about themselves with me, but I hope they know they could if they needed to. I see this more as a gift than a skill because it doesn’t require any effort on my part to build these connections—it just happens naturally, whether intentional or not.

I am incredibly thankful to be a source of peace for others. This quality will be invaluable when working with the youth and individuals who participate in Touchstone Foundation’s events. Discussions about mental health can often become heavy, and I’m confident in my ability to provide support and uplift those who may find themselves in that space.
