QPR Trainings Educate Community on Suicide Prevention

You can never predict when a crisis is going to occur. Preparedness is essential when one is confronted with a possibly life-threatening situation. Mental Health America of Lancaster County provides Question Persuade and Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention training sessions.

QPR trainings are designed to educate the community to be aware of the signs of suicidal ideation and what to do when that happens. QPR’s 3 essential steps to help prevent suicide are:
1. Question
2. Persuade
3. Refer
QPR trainings also provide education on mental illness in general. During training, roleplay is used to teach participants innovative, practical, and proven suicide prevention techniques. Regardless of their background, participants are given the ability and confidence to make a positive difference in the life of someone they know.

Participants of QPR trainings, gain a quality education that empowers to help those in Lancaster County and surrounding communities, who may be struggling with suicidal ideations. Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis that can prevent suicide and save lives.

Mental Health America of Lancaster County’s QPR trainings work to educate members in the community about mental wellness. As an aspect of our health that is commonly overlooked, QPR trainings work to create a responsive community, fully equipped to handle an emergency situation.

No matter who you are or what you do for a living, you are surrounded by mental health on a daily basis. QPR training is something anyone can benefit from. For more information and upcoming QPR trainings, please visit www.mhalancaster.org.
