In a survey completed by the Addiction Policy Forum, 24% percent of respondents indicated that their substance use, or that of a family member, has changed because of COVID-19, with 20% reporting increased substance use.

Local

Joining Forces for Children is a collaborative effort to systematically address the needs of children affected by substance use through training and education, systems and policy changes, and direct support for children and families.
Compass Mark is a non-profit organization aimed to prevent addiction through education, skill-building, and community mobilization. Their vision is to guide and empower all people toward a healthier and fulfilling lifestyle from addiction. They offer help through prevention programs that are catered to every age and setting.

State

The Pennsylvania Survey, or PAYS, is a survey focused on students from grades 6-12, to learn about their behavior, attitudes, and knowledge concerning alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs and violence. PAYS is sponsored and conducted every two years by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.

National

The nation’s leading organization dedicated to addiction prevention, treatment and recovery, they are a diverse community of researchers, advocates, clinicians, communicators and more.
National Association for Children of Addiction (NACoA)’s mission is to eliminate the adverse impact of alcohol and drug use on children and families.
SAMHSA’s National Helpline, 1-800-662-HELP (4357) (also known as the Treatment Referral Routing Service), or TTY: 1-800-487-4889 is a confidential, free, 24-hour-a-day, 365-day-a-year, information service, in English and Spanish, for individuals and family members facing mental and/or substance use disorders. This service provides referrals to local treatment facilities, support groups, and community-based organizations.

The Disaster Distress Helpline, 1-800-985-5990, is a 24/7, 365-day-a-year, national hotline dedicated to providing immediate crisis counseling for people who are experiencing emotional distress related to any natural or human-caused disaster.
This toll-free, multilingual, and confidential crisis support service is available to all residents in the United States and its territories. Stress, anxiety, and other depression-like symptoms are common reactions after a disaster. Call or text 1-800-985-5990 to connect with a trained crisis counselor.
