Understanding people and their mental health journey also means understanding all the intersections of someone’s identity. Racial Justice Advocacy within the mental health field is crucial for empathy and understanding. Here is a non-exhaustive list of resources.

Touchstone Foundation

This Touchstone Foundation blog post speaks to the effects that exposure to racism has not only on children but on adulthood as well. This article also contains some resources to help guide conversations with youth about race and racism.  

State

The Racial Equity Report from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services from 2021 includes what the DHS has been doing to increase racial equity and will continue to do to promote equity. It includes sections on Health Equity, Economic Justice, Early Childhood Education, Child Welfare, and Juvenile Justice.  
The Philanthropy Network of Greater Philadelphia has several resources on their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion page, including reports about diversity in grantmaking, funding Black-led social change movements, and equity and philanthropic evaluation practices.
