Touchstone Foundation has immediate opportunities in Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 for one or two communications assistant intern(s) to create social media content, write news articles for our website, and work on webpage updates. The intern will serve as a Communications Assistant, also helping with some event support.
Internships are paid and available for a hybrid work environment, with at least one day of in-person hours at our beautiful office in downtown Lancaster, PA, with some remote/virtual hours available.
Majors best served by our opportunities include (but are not limited to):
Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, Business, Information Technology, Graphic Design, Psychology, Social Work, or related majors.
About Us
Touchstone Foundation works to improve the mental wellbeing of youth and children in Lancaster County. We value caring, collaboration, a whole-person approach, advocacy, and visibility. We provide mental health copay & deductible assistance, scholarships, a high school youth summit, parental mental wellness support group, clinical fellowships for pre-license therapists/counselors, and professional development training in Lancaster County.
About Our Internships
We offer internships to qualified local students who possess exceptional communication skills and would like exposure to Lancaster County’s nonprofit community. These internships may be tailored to specific areas of focus within our work, depending on the student’s academic major and areas of interests. All internships include general and clerical office tasks. Hours are negotiable. Our internships are paid an hourly wage, $16/hour, depending on experience.
Start times are flexible, year-round, and based on the school calendar.
- School Year (Fall and Spring Semesters) – A minimum of 10 hours per week, not exceeding 20 hours per week during Fall and Spring semesters. These hours can be flexible and scheduled to meet the needs of both the Touchstone Foundation and intern.
- Winter/Summer Breaks A minimum of 20 hours per week, not exceeding 30 hours per week for at least 4 weeks during your school’s Winter break and/or for at least 10 weeks during summer. These hours can be flexible and scheduled to meet the needs of both the intern and Touchstone Foundation.
Key Responsibilities
- Social Media Content Management
- Assist in creating and managing social media content across LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram.
- Help schedule posts and maintain an organized social media content calendar.
- Design brand-centric graphics using Canva for posts, program materials, flyers, and event promotions, ensuring consistent alignment with Touchstone Foundation’s visual identity.
- Program Material Creation & Updates
- Create, update, and organize program materials for events and campaigns, such as flyers, brochures, and digital toolkits.
- Research and provide input on the design and selection of branded merchandise and incentive items for programs.
- Event Promotion and Registration
- Assist in planning event registration and ticketing schedules for upcoming events.
- Help roll out outreach promotions via social, email and SMS for events, including our annual fundraising gala, Feast of the Senses (May 15, 2025).
- Website Maintenance & Content Creation
- Support website updates and maintenance using WordPress with Elementor.
- Research and write engaging news articles for our website and newsletters, both print and electronic.
- Help update web pages as needed with relevant event or program information.
- Video Content Production: Assist in producing video content for social media and marketing efforts, promoting the foundation’s programs and events.
- Touchstone Ambassadors Program: Implement a recommendation to create a Touchstone Ambassadors program, including designing branded materials and developing suggested social media content for ambassadors.
- Community Outreach & Event Support
- Attending community activities and providing necessary assistance during events.
- Help plan and host events aimed at strengthening partnerships and donor relationships.
- Plan outreach events focused on youth mental health and establish connections with Lancaster City/County communities.
